Penelope “Pepper” Martin can’t believe the nerve of some people. When her rich and handsome husband-to-be finds out her surgeon father is headed to the clink on fraud charges, he drops her like a bad habit. And to make matters worse, the family fortune’s gone bone dry, leaving Pepper to fend for herself. Armed with an art history degree and little else, the best Pepper can do is score a job giving tours at a local cemetery. Not exactly glamorous, but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. But waking up in a hospital bed, after falling and bumping her head on a gravestone, Pepper realizes this cemetery job may be more than she bargained for. And even more disconcerting is the fact that Gus Scarpetti, the long dead resident of the grave that served as Pepper’s landing pad, has now appeared out of thin air. Of course, only Pepper can see and hear the deceased gangster, and now he’s trying to enlist her in his murder investigation. It seems the dead can’t be at peace until justice is served on earth, and the tough-guy has charmed Pepper into investigating his death. With the help of a handsome detective, she’s gotten herself deep into “family” business, and if she isn’t careful, she may soon be joining her wise-guy friend as a stop on the cemetery’s guided tour!
