What It Means to Be a Husky

Things are different in the great Northwest. Take tailgating for instance. UW fans dock their boats in Lake Washington while the crew team ferries fans to Husky Stadium with, on a clear day, a view of 14,000' Mt. Ranier in the background. One thing that isn't different is a football winning tradition. Coach Don James won 153 games and a national football championship (1991) during an eighteen year career. His Huskies had a .726 game-winning percentage and finished their championship season with a perfect 12-0 record. With that winning tradition, it's easy to understand why Washington fans are serious about their football. None feel more strongly about UW football tradition than those who have worn the gold helmet. Coach Don James and current Coach Tyrone Willingham have assembled the greatest players ever to wear the purple and gold to share their memories in What it Means to be a Husky. Here is but a sampling of the storied players who contribute their dreams, thoughts, and memories from that most memorable of times; the time they were a Husky:Hugh McElhenny, Chuck Allen, Jim Krieg, Robin Earl, Steve Pelluer, Lincoln Kennedy, Steve Emtman, Mark Brunell, Lawyer Milloy, Corey Dillon, Olin Kruetz, Reggie Williams...and many more.
