Descrição

Excerpt from Laughter and Life: A Christian View of Amusements This book is issued by the American Sunday School Union under the John C. Green Income Fund. It won the second prize offered for the best manuscripts on the subject of Amusements How Can They Be Made to Promote the Highest Well bei/ny of Society The provisions of the Fund authorize the Union to choose the subject, - Which must always be germane to the objects of the Society, - and by owning the copyright, to reduce the price of the book. In this way works of a high order of merit may be put in circulation at a reason able price. The author is given large liberty in the literary form, style, and treatment of the subject. The book deals in a fresh and original way with the relation of laughter to life. It shows how one may laugh for God as well as pray to God and serve God. The theme is of universal practical interest to church and Sunday-school workers, parents and teachers, as well as to the increasing number of those who are devoting themselves to the promotion of the play life of the nation. That it won a prize in competition with other fresh and able treatments of the theme indicates its special excellence. It should well serve its mission of making laughter enrich and strengthen rather than debase human life. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
